It costs around R8500/month to maintain and support a resident. As an NPO we are primarily dependant on cash and kind donations. We receive 90% of resident grants. By regulation 10% must be paid back to the resident for pocket money and other necessities. A small portion of families that have brought their parents and/or grandparents to Frederic Place commit to a minimum R2500 per month for boarding and lodging. Some families can not afford this and roughly 20% do not visit or fetch their parents/relatives. Operational costs to support our residents are challenging without donations. We receive a state subsidy from the Department of Social Development (DSD) which formerly used to cover salaries and operational costs. But with the rise in inflation together with the minimum wage bill, we barely make ends meet. On a shoe string budget, we run at a R589 000 deficit, leaving our home in dire financial straits. We are SARS approved for issue of a Section18A Certificate for donations. Please Sponsor our monthly Meat Bill, Friday lunches, toiletries and Nappies.
